| Active Learning Abroad GlobaLinks Learning Abroad and Active Learning Abroad have forged a unique partnership to provide high quality study abroad opportunities in Spain. Active Learning Abroad (ALA) is GlobaLinks’ partner and overseas office for all students studying for a summer or semester at a university in Spain. The ALA offices and staff in Barcelona, Seville, Salamanca, and Madrid work closely with GlobaLinks Learning Abroad staff in the U.S. to provide all students with services and support throughout the experience. This ensures that each student has an individualized experience both during the pre-departure stage and while in country. The ALA team in Spain delivers the Bridging Cultures Program onsite and Discovery Activities throughout the semester or summer and are also available 24/7 for emergency support. Active Learning Abroad was developed through the expertise of Arturo Jarque who has been actively involved in international education in Spain for more than 20 years. Dr. Jarque was born in Alicante where he lived and studied until he moved to the USA. He has a Ph.D. in Contemporary Humanities and a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography and History from the University of Alicante. He also has a Master of Arts from Louisiana State University and was a Fulbright researcher at Georgetown University in Washington D.C. Dr. Jarque has served thousands of students in a variety of roles at Spanish universities as well as with American and Spanish international education organizations. Professionally speaking, Dr. Jarque was Director of Hispanic Studies for North American Universities at the Universidad de Alcalá, Madrid for nine years and Regional Director and General Manager in Spain for a well-known American study abroad organization for almost seven years. Dr. Jarque was also a teacher for years and has had extensive experience in both the Spanish and American university systems developing academic programs and providing academic related services for American students. Dr. Jarque and his team are dedicated to providing a rewarding study abroad experience for all students. Academic rigor, customer attention and wellbeing of participants are three main considerations. |
