| Artists, philosophers, scientists, and writers seemed to have poured out of the Netherlands and continue to make an impact on the people today. From the 17th century artists such as Rembrandt van Rijn, Johannes Vermeer, Jan Steen, Jacob vanRuysdael, and many more became known as the “Dutch Masters.” The 19th and 20th century produced the well-known artists Vincent van Gogh and Piet Mondriaan. Throughout the Netherlands, exist museums and other tributes to some of the above-mentioned individuals who helped shape the country into what it is today and whose work still helps to spread knowledge about the history of their homeland.
