| The Netherlands is densely populated, being home to more than 16 million people. Immigration has played a large role, making the Netherlands a very diverse country. Many immigrants have come from the bordering countries of Germany and Belgium, other Western European countries, Indonesia, the Caribbean, and Turkey. Emigration is also a big factor in the population with some 121,000 leaving the country and 94,000 entering it in 2005. Most emigrants tend to go to other European countries, Oceania, the Americas, and Japan. Ask a question |
