Just as there are many types of study abroad programs, there are many types of financial aid. Scholarships and grants, loans, work-study are but a few. Financial aid can be used on all EuroLearn study abroad programs ,and we work with the student’s financial aid office to facilitate a consortium agreement between the home institution and the university abroad. The most common type of aid in the United States is federally funded loans. This federal aid is governed by Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and is reviewed and reauthorized every five years by the U.S. Congress. In 1992, reauthorization language was inserted stating it was legal to use federal aid for study abroad if the credit earned by the student is pre-approved by the home institution. EuroLearn can provide a detailed budget sheet for any of our programs upon request, which include program fees and other estimated expenses. Students, parents, and advisors are encouraged to keep in mind that individual spending habits should be factored into the student’s budget as these habits can significantly alter the planned budget.
