| There are many things to consider as you begin to search for the right place to study abroad including academic and personal pursuits. We have put together some resources and information for GLBT students so you can become more knowledgeable about the attitudes and customs in the host country. Attitudes, levels of acceptance and tolerance about sexual orientation vary all over the world. It is important to understand the general customs, safety concerns and associated laws of the country where you wish to study abroad so you can have a successful experience. Tolerance and understanding can differ greatly from what you’re used to, both positively and negatively. We encourage you to speak with us about your particular needs and interests. You may wish to speak with us during the first stages of searching for a program or during the application and enrollment process. Our staff will respond with reassurance, encouragement, enthusiasm and information with your specific interests and program of interest in mind. Please review the resources, seek advice from the international office and/or the equity and diversity office at your home university and please feel free to contact us with your questions. We are happy to assist you and provide additional advice and support for your experience abroad.
