Social activities and optional trips

Upon arrival, Kingston hosts an Orientation and Welcome Reception, which provide the perfect platform for meeting fellow students and the Summer School staff.

British Culture and Society includes a field trip as part of the curriculum. Students not enrolling in this class still have the opportunity to participate in field trips, depending on space availability and on a fee per trip basis.

Additionally, there will be two, optional four-day weekend excursions (additional fee) organized by the University. These excursions allow students to travel to mainland Europe, Ireland, or elsewhere in the UK through an organized group itinerary.

The other two weekends provide free time for exploring London and the area closer to Kingston.

Sample organized excursions:

  • Scotland: This heritage tour of Scotland will take students from the lowlands of Edinburgh to the Highlands and Loch Ness.
  • Warwick Castle and Stratford: This day excursion takes in Stratford-upon-Avon, Shakespeare’s birthplace, and the medieval Warwick Castle.
  • Paris: This weekend tour takes students to one of the most romantic cities in the world. The Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower are just some of the sights to enjoy.
